    The Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI) serves as Singapore’s national research institute for ophthalmic and vision research. SERI functions as the research arm of the various clinical ophthalmic centres in Singapore, including the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC), the national clinical centre for ophthalmology in Singapore. SERI has developed a world-leading reputation in broad-based clinical translational research programmes for eye diseases.
    SERI is seeking a highly qualified individual to take on a significant role in a rapidly expanding retina research program. The position offers the opportunity to do research work at SERI.
    PurposeThe incumbent will undertake research in SERI under the retina research team and clinical work at SNEC. He/she will assist the Director, Principal Investigators and Consultants in the successful execution of the project(s).
    Duties and Responsibilities The Research Component includes the following:Lead and develop the discovery and translation of novel biomarkers, targets and therapies Report scientific outcomes and strategies to the Lead PI and Collaborators to support the successful development, coordination and management of the programs.Support clinical studies primarily under its Translational Asian Age-related Macular Degeneration Program (TAAP-2) and Macula Centre Program involving: Investigating eyecare models that target transformation of eye care from current hospital-based model focusing on advanced disease to community-based model focusing on early detection and preventive intervention in high-risk individuals.Developing personalised treatment strategies through understanding the heterogeneity in disease features and treatment outcome and developing novel therapies that target these differences.Multimodal Image grading and analysis Elucidating the pathogenic mechanism and evaluate management strategies of ‘Pachychoroid disease spectrum’Conduct and coordinate clinical research in medical retinal diseases within SERI/SNEC in line with its research strategy, including PI-initiated studies and industry sponsored clinical trialsAssist in management of these research projects, which includes supervising post-doctoral research assistants, research students, technical and other support staff (if any)Publish and disseminate research outcomes in appropriate journals of international standing and other reputable outletsAssist to draft research reports Attend and present research findings and papers at academic and professional conferences, and to contribute to the external visibility of the departmentAttend and participate in meetings (where necessary) and other committees and working groups within SERI/SNECEnsure compliance with health and safety in all aspects of workUndertake such specific roles and management functions as may be reasonably required by the Director
    The Clinical Component will include participation in medical retina clinics, diabetic retinopathy clinics and laser clinics through which the post holder will be exposed to: Participate in medical retina clinics, diabetic retinopathy clinics and laser clinics and be exposed to a broad variety of retinal and vitreous disorders with particular emphasis on macular diseases and retinal vascular disease.     Requirements MMed (Ophthalmology), FRCS or its equivalent, registrable with the Singapore Medical CouncilCompleted 2 years of advance training rotations in general ophthalmologyExperienced in most aspects of clinical ophthalmology and competent with intravitreal injections. Experience in Imaging papers will be an added advantageA demonstrated familiarity with principles of clinical research studies Able to work independently and multi-taskA good command of English language

    You will assist the Director Research to develop and implement the tele-dentistry supported community-based oral care programme to seniors which includes:
    Key conduit between National Dental Centre Singapore (NDCS), Ministry of Health, SingHealth Regional Health System (RHS), Agencies, community partners.Prepare documents for and facilitate regulatory (e.g., institution review board, Health Sciences Authority) approvals.Facilitate the signing of project agreements with external collaborators.Provide advice on programme implementation and workflow.Facilitate programme-related outreach events and training sessions.Design and develop informed consent form, data collection forms, logs and other study related document.Execute the approved clinical research protocols in accordance to the ICH-Guideline for Good Clinical Practical (ICH-GCP), Human Biomedical Research Act (HBRA) and other regulatory requirements, including (but not limited to) assisting the principal investigator(s) in:o subject's consent takingScheduling study-related appointments for research subjectsCompleting data collection formsConducting surveys or questionnairesManaging the study-related equipmentHandling queries by research subjectsSet up and maintain investigator study file(s), including records of all approvals and reports.Coordinate and take minutes for study specific meetings between the various stakeholders such as NDCS, RHS and community partners.Set up and entry of research data into the study database.Simple interim analysis of data.Prepare study progress reports and study audits by relevant regulatory authorities and grant funding bodies.
    Requirements:Degree in Nursing, Biological Science, Pharmacy or other healthcare-related discipline.Familiar with the Singapore Guideline for Good Clinical Practice (SGGCP), ethics and regulatory requirements for conducting clinical research.Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and bio-statistical software applications.Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.Able to work independently.Able to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
