  • Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) was incorporated on 3 March 1989 and commenced operation in October 1990. It is the designated national centre for ophthalmology within Singapore’s public sector healthcare network, with a faculty of close to 90 ophthalmologists and more than 800 staff. SNEC spearheads and coordinates the provision of specialised ophthalmological services with emphasis on quality education and research.
    SNEC manages more than 330,000 patient visits and performs over 35,000 surgeries and laser procedures annually. The centre offers a full spectrum of subspecialties addressing every part of the eye – Cataract, Corneal & External Eye Disease, General Cataract & Comprehensive Ophthalmology, Glaucoma, Neuro-ophthalmology, Ocular Inflammation & Immunology, Oculoplastic, Paediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus, Refractive Surgery, Surgical and Medical Retina.
    1) Consultant/Senior Consultant, Ophthalmology (Specialist Doctor)
    SNEC invites suitably qualified applicants who are passionate and patient-focused to join our team in the following departments:

    You will work at one or more of our regional satellite sites, including the Changi General Hospital (CGH), Sengkang General Hospital (SKH) and/or new satellite location(s), with opportunities in the SNEC main campus. Requirements:A basic Medical Degree and a post-graduate qualification in Ophthalmology (e.g. MMed, FRCOphth) which is registrable with the Singapore Medical Council*Completed a recognised advanced specialist training programme in Ophthalmology and eligible to be accepted for accreditation by the Specialist Accreditation Board (SAB), Ministry of Health, and specialist registration with the Singapore Medical CouncilStrong teaching and research abilities with a track record of publications is beneficial
    2) Clinical Associate (Non-Specialist Doctor, Ophthalmology Experience Required)
    SNEC invites suitably qualified applicants who are passionate and patient-focused to join our team in the Clinical Services department. You will be doing general clinic and ward duties.
    Inpatient ManagementThe doctors are responsible for the total management of patients in the ward with the assistnce of the Nursing Officer in chargeThe doctors are responsible for explaining procedures and operations to patients and relatives, as well as obtaining consents for such cases.The doctors should perform any other duties as directed by the senior medical staff in their respective departments.
    OutpatientResponsible for assisting the Consultant-in-charge in the running of Outpatient Clinics. They should review treatment of cases from time to time, but they should not make any major changes to the treatment regime of discharge long-term patients from follow up without the prior approval of the Consultant-in-charge of the Clinic.
    Requirements:Basic medical degree registrable with the Singapore Medical Council (Second Schedule of the Medical Registration Act)Completed 1-year housemanshipEye experience is required
    3) Resident Physician (Non-Specialist Doctor, Ophthalmology Experience Required)
    SNEC invites suitably qualified applicants who are passionate and patient-focused to join our team in the Clinical Services department.
    You will be responsible for the daily running of ophthalmology clinics and any other ad-hoc duties assigned by his/her Supervisor or Head of Department.

    CallsThe doctors will be expected to work according to the department roster and to participate in call duties based on the roster. The doctor can be rostered for night duty calls within SNEC and at SNEC’s regional health services, which can be up to thrice a week.

    4) Clinical Associate/Resident Physician (Non-Specialist Doctor, Anaesthesia Experience Required)
    SNEC invites suitably qualified applicants who are passionate and patient-focused to join our team in the Anaesthesia department.
    You will provide anaesthesia care for ophthalmic surgical procedures and conduct pre-operative assessments and post-operative monitoring.
    Requirement:Basic medical degree in the Second Schedule of the Medical Registration Act or postgraduate medical qualification registrable with the Singapore Medical CouncilAnaesthesia experience is required. At least 3 years of Anaesthesia experience for Resident Physician.
    Candidates without qualifications that are registrable with the Singapore Medical Council will not be considered.

  • Orthoptist  

    - Singapore

    You will be part of a member in the Adult Strabismus and Paediatric Ophthalmology team.
    You will be involved in general orthoptic examination and paediatric ophthalmology sessions. You will carry out paediatric visual acuity checks, sensory and motor evaluation of squints, amblyopia diagnosis, counselling and orthoptic treatment. There will be opportunities for active participation in teaching and research projects.
    Job Responsibilities:• Involve in Orthoptic Assessment and Reporting which includes formulation of diagnosis and proposed management plan where necessary to paediatric / general / private Ophthalmologists• Involve in Binocular Vision Assessment and Other Binocular Vision testing• Assess and manage patients in specialized Orthoptic clinics such as early intervention (for children with low vision), neuro-rehabilitation, amblyopia and fusion clinics• Prescription of optical aids such as Fresnel prisms• Opportunities to be involved in education and research• Opportunities to be deploy to other hospitals/clinics for learning and professional development

    - Singapore

    You will be part of the Pharmacy team to be responsible and ensure the proper and smooth operations of the Pharmacy. This includes dispensing medication according to Good Dispensing Practice, interaction with patient and family members and healthcare team, counselling the patients on drug therapy and usage, and verify discrepancies in prescriptions. You will also be involved in settling of drug related problems, ensure correct charging of both medications and daily accounts and other administrative duties.

  • DescriptionThe Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI) serves as Singapore’s national research institute for ophthalmic and vision research and functions as the research arm of the Singapore National Eye Centre. As part of the SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre (AMC), SERI undertakes vision research in collaboration with local and international clinical ophthalmic centres and biomedical research institutions. To date, SERI, together with the Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences Academic Clinical Program (Eye ACP) at Duke-NUS, has developed a world-leading reputation in broad-based clinical translational research and epidemiological programmes for major blinding eye diseases.
    The Population Health Research (PHR) Group at SERI conducts patient-centred and clinical health services research in Ophthalmology in Singapore and Asia. We have setup several large clinical and population-based multi-centre collaborative studies to: (a) better understand the pathophysiology of the aging visual and others sensory systems and their interactions with several key outcomes of age-related functional decline, i.e., sarcopenia and frailty; (b) investigate the connection between sensory and cognitive decline, while developing and validating innovative assessment tools to accurately detect cognitive impairment in individuals with sensory loss; and (c) develop and validate novel AI-driven instruments (questionnaires) to comprehensively evaluate quality of life (QoL) in individuals with debilitating ocular and other systemic diseases.
    We are inviting suitably qualified candidates for the position of Senior Postdoctoral/Clinical Research Fellow in the PHR group under the direct supervision of Professor Ecosse Lamoureux, Head of the PHR group and Director of the Population Health and Ocular Epidemiology Platform at SERI. This position offers an excellent opportunity for the applicant to undertake outstanding research work at SERI under his mentorship and other capable Clinical Research Fellows. An interest in patient-centred and population health research in sensory diseases, neurosensory loss, and/or the aging population is crucial.
