The Head of Function, Creative Director leads the creative and design direction of Royal Insignia’s fine jewellery, insignia, regalia, and bespoke luxury products. This role oversees the entire design lifecycle—from concept development, creative planning, and technical design execution to collaboration with production, procurement, marketing, and clients.
The position ensures that all designs uphold Royal Insignia’s brand standards, heritage, craftsmanship quality, innovation, and commercial viability. The ability to delegate and lead project teams towards successful adoption of new design ideas is essential for the Head of Function, Creative Director.
He / she possesses a strong mastery of design fundamentals in and can generate creative work that meets the requirements of stakeholders. He/ she is able to work on multiple projects
Key ResponsibilitiesCreative Leadership & Design DirectionDefine and drive the overall creative vision across jewellery, insignia, and bespoke luxury products.Lead concept development through mood boards, sketches, design themes, and collection direction.Conduct regular creative critiques and guide the team to elevate design quality and consistency.Ensure all designs reflect Royal Insignia’s brand identity, craftsmanship standards, and luxury positioning.Stay current on design trends, materials, gemstones, and emerging technologies.
End-to-End Design & Project Management
Oversee the translation of concepts into technical drawings, CAD models, 3D renders, and production-ready specifications.Approve final design outputs prior to handover to Production.Ensure all design documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with internal SOPs.Manage design schedules and workflows across corporate projects, product development, and Mimaki artwork.Maintain accurate technical measurements and design references to support production.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
Receive and interpret design briefs from Sales and Client Servicing teams.Work closely with Production, Operations, Procurement, and Sales to ensure feasibility, cost accuracy, and alignment.Provide creative input to Marketing for campaigns, catalogues, and digital content.Proactively identify and resolve feasibility or execution risks early in the design process.
Quality, Innovation & Design StandardsMaintain and continuously improve design quality through structured reviews and improvement initiatives.Introduce new materials, gemstones, techniques, and design aesthetics where appropriate.Own and maintain the Corporate Design SOP and ensure full team adherence.Oversee the proper use and output quality of the Mimaki machine.Ensure all corporate and product designs follow Royal Insignia’s design language.
Leadership, Training & Team DevelopmentLead, mentor, and develop designers, CAD artists, and visualisation specialists.Provide structured onboarding and training for new hires.Set team KPIs, work standards, and performance expectations.Conduct regular coaching, feedback, and performance appraisals (mid-year and end-year).Identify training needs and support continuous skill development within the team.
Operational Excellence & SOP OwnershipDevelop, update, and own all design-related SOPs and workflows.Ensure alignment between Design SOPs and Production SOPs.Drive efficiency improvements in design accuracy, speed, and consistency.Manage and optimise design software, tools, and resources.Allocate workloads effectively to meet deadlines without compromising quality.
Requirements
Proven leadership experience in jewellery design, luxury products, or a related design discipline.Strong expertise in CAD, technical drawings, and production-ready design processes.Experience managing cross-functional stakeholders in a production environment.Strong people management, coaching, and team development capabilities.High attention to detail, structure, and process discipline.Passion for craftsmanship, innovation, and design excellence.
